About

This is my personal page. I am just getting started in rebuilding my website. I have been with my current employer, ASG Technologies, for over 26 years and have been very busy most of that time. Between that work and a significant change in my household in the past few years, I have been overly busy. My job still keeps me quite busy, but my house has now settled down, and I have more time to devote to this now.

About

In March of 2017, my mother, Alice, passed away at 92. She and my aunt Betty had shared a house for 12 years in their retirement. After Alice passed, the situation for my aunt was difficult, and in 2018 my wife Barb and I decided to move my aunt into our home. We had to quickly remodel a room and a bath. This was a significant project that turned the household upside down for a few months, but we are now back on track, and things have settled down.

It was difficult to get started again, and the hardest part was organizing my interests in specific areas. I finally decided around the four areas where I have the most interest at this time. Read More

Remodeling

I always work with a five-year plan for remodeling. They always start with researching and planning what can be done and proceed to get the work done. Of course, nothing ever gets done as planned, so the last few months of each five-year plan involve starting to plan the next five-year plan. This page contains some of my projects. One of the impediments to my remodeling plans are the foreign business trips that take me around the world for my job. Sometimes they are troubleshooting projects where I have been tasked with diagnosing and resolving customer problems with our software products. Other times, these are training assignments where my task is to teach my company’s software products to customer personnel. Finally, the other reason for traveling is to provide product demonstrations and technical details to potential customers. Whatever the reason, I have been to over 20 countries on six continents and a boatload of islands. I have told my boss that if they ever teach penguins to program computers, then I am going to retire because I am NOT going to the seventh continent! (It is cold enough for me in Chicago.)
